Fixed Asset Item List Custom Fields

I added 3 custom fields to the Fixed Asset Item List but none of the custom fields apppear on the Fixed asset manager. The FA manager has 5 user define fields that I thought were the same as the custom fields on the FA item list. Can some one help me with this please. Thank you. new user
