How to stop Quickbooks from creating "renaming rules"?

How can I stop QuickBooks from creating Renaming Rules? (I'm updating my checks from Online Banking and everytime I assign a check to a payee, QuickBooks tries to make all the checks to that one payee)

You can't. This feature of QB 2009 is quite broken, and there really is no solution at this time. I encourage you to join the Quickbooks Inner Circle.
