We are a bakery selling in a Farmer's Market. I am new to QB. How do I manage purchases from various grocery stores/Costco for our supplies? Also, how do I set up the items we sell? P.S.: I apologize for the n00b questions.
I would post all my purchases to a Cost of Goods sold type account called Purchases.
Then, post all of your sales to Sales Income, using Make Deposit.
If you want to track more detail, I would create a sales receipt and put the totals in that, using the total/day and items for various types - cakes, cookies, breads, etc. (but only if YOU care to track it that way)

I was concerned about a ton of double-entering of data [Create an account for "bills" (stuff purchased) from Costco, then immediately pay that "bill" ... and, so on for every "pseudo-vendor" paper receipt I have]. Now I can see that isn't necessary.
