Getting clients for myself.

Hey All,I work for an Internet consulting firm and I believe I am not making what I should. This company expects coaches to go from start to finish with a website (find domain, build site, marking site) in hour sessions, some clients have 8 sessions some only have 3. They are paying their coaches only $20 a session, I think that for what we do that is no where near what someone should be making for everything that we do.I am looking to do this for myself and leave this company, the only problem I see is getting new customers to sign up. I believe a lot of clients already have their personal favorites when it comes to web design and seo work. What would you recommend to help get my new business started and off the ground? I have posted on craigslist and did some ppc but the leads are next to nothing for a newcomer like myself.Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.Thank You

Try offering incentives....I know of a great program where you can give away free 3day/2night Vacations that you can give to your clients...it's worked well for me and many others in my organization build and keep clients.

If interested I'll be more than happy to send you the info.

Be Blessed and don't give up!

The first thing you need to do if you want to go into business for yourself is to adjust your thinking! If you focus on the what you said above ("I believe a lot of clients already have their personal favorites when it comes to web design and seo work" ) you're going to discourage yourself before you ever start.

Sure, lots of businesses already have websites. But they aren't all happy with them. Also, there are lots of businesses that still don't have websites.

I'm not sure from your post whether you want to build the sites or just coach clients, either. You'll need to make that clear if you'll be going into business for yourself. (Clear to the people you want to serve).

If you're targetting small businesses, you'll need to gain their trust. A good way to do that is to get to know the owners personally by joining or attending business network groups.

If what you have in mind is teaching SEO (going by the username you are using) then you should be using SEO on your own website to help attract people interested in your services. Pay Per Click ads, would help too, if you have a carefully thought out landing page and techniques for winning trust and business.

Hi there,

You may also want to join networking groups in your geographical area. You may have to search hard for the free groups, but they do exist. I've been receiving many referrals from networking groups as well as from my own website. I started my own SEO company a few months ago and it's picking up nicely now. As with any business, when it's new, you need to give it time. Just keep at it.
