i have a service business where we sell tourist activities. i need to pay the vendors who conduct the activity. we sell the activity to the customer. we keep a portion of the sale as our commision. then we pay the vendor the remaining amount collected from the sale. what type of account do i use to pay the vendor?
Create an item for each service you sell. (if you already have them set up, open/edit them)
Click the box that asks, is this Service used in assemblies or is performed by a Subcontractor or partner.
This opens an extra box where you can enter the purchase price (how much it cost you) and the price you will charge your customer.
Then these rates are used where appllcable when you choose that item. One rate on a PO or Bill, the other on an estimate, sales order, or invoice.
The differnce is your commission/income and QB will calculate it accordingly.
I'm kind of in the same boat, but Margery, I tried to do what you said but it seemingly isn't working on the customer invoice end. I have a tutoring company and we have tutors set up as independent contractors. I want to enter an invoice to the customer for services provided (at $60 an hour), and then have that invoice generate a bill that I have to pay to the tutor (for $40 an hour). How would I do this myself, or does the tutor have to enter that information themselves through a weekly time tracking?
I'm new to quickbooks, please bear with me. Thanks
