COPING Some of you are losing business or had problems with payments. "I've lost several clients, had an enormous increase in cancelled appoints and clients who would normally pay their invoice from me in several days are now running over 30 days," one of you wrote. In tax prep, some identify a loss of clients to software options. A bookkeeper writes, "I have lost 50% of my revenue," as more clients took on their own bookkeeping.

THRIVING Some of you found more business and "a new found interest [among clients] in their bookkeeping as it relates to taxes." Others say that "with the tax laws becoming even more complex, we anticipate ... a resurgence of new business." Other good news: "I added 83 new clients in filing season."

WALKING AWAY At least one of you found other work. One practitioner took "a full time management position at a larger company in business operations," retaining a few clients but waiting for the economy to improve before going back into service on his own.

NOW in this discussion TELL US WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING DIFFERENTLY during the rest of 2009.
My business has gone from a fast steady growth to level off. I am taking the next 3 months to focus on my internal processes. I want to streamline and create procedures that ensure better customer service from my staff.
After that I plan on hiring more people, train and ramp up my networking.
