Customize chart of accounts?

US QuickBooks Online Edition

Hello.  I'm an IT consultant who doesn't know Quickbooks.  My client is using Quickbooks on Mac and they want to go multi-user.  The client's bookkeeper looked at QB Online and said "the chart of accounts can't be customized."

That doesn't sound right to me.  Can the chart of accounts be customized, and are there any limitations when compared to Quickbooks Pro on the desktop?  Can you import QB Pro 2009 chart of accounts into QB Online without losing anything?

Hi David,

Yes, the chart of accounts can be customized at first by type of business when the client creates the account, and they can always add/remove accounts at anytime. 

Yes, you can import the data from QuickBooks Pro (windows version) directly so the chart would be the same.

You can convert Mac as well but there are extra steps.
