Update problems

I found a problem when transferring client data from 08 to 09. It's the same problem the 2006 program: Transferring prior depreciation for standard mileage vehicles. Mileage was entered in two fields in 2008. Transfer to 09 only uses just one.

09 mileage costs of 55 cents for all of 2009. 2008 had two -- 50 1/2 cents for Jan-Jun and 58 1/2 cents for Jul-Dec. Could this be the problem?

As it gets closer to tax season, I wish I had some hair to pull out.

It could be what AM said. If it did not add them together when it when to 2009 you will need to add them so it brings forward the total. Thanks for letting us know

Thanks for the responses.  Proseries will have to fix this problem.  I would suggest not transfering 08 Data to 09 at this time for this and maybe some other unknown problems.  I have faith that Proseries will correct any and all problems that they know about.

I've not been able to duplicate your problem.  My clients have transferred over just fine.  Was it a singular episode or is it occurring with all clients who have mileage?

We are simply asked to make gentle our bruised world, to tame its savageness. To be compassionate of all, including ourselves. Then in the time left over to repeat the ancient tales, and go the way of God's foolish ones.

Example:  Vehicle would have used standard mileage in 2008.  For a 100% business use, 4000 miles in first half of year, 4000 miles in second half.  These first and second half mileage are input to two different fields.  Tax law states that depreciation calculation is $.21 per mile, 8000 X $.21=$1680.00.   The 2009 program only looks at either the first half or second half, I'm not sure which, but the calculation is wrong.  The same situation arose on the early release of the 2006 program.  Proseries after a few updates later did correct the problem.  My hope is that Proseries will correct  this problem.
