I have been using it since the 2006 filing season. You don't have to pay the renewal fee of $450 each year unless you want the updates so that it interfaces with the 2009 Proseries software. The problem I am having now is that now it won't interface with the years prior to 2008. Hope we can get that fixed. Oh Well! At least they are consistant.
If you are serious about going paperless, and I am doning that also, hold your nose, spend the money and go as effeciently as you can. Another important issue is to get a good scanner. I just purchased another one from Newegg. I is a Fujitsu 6130C I installed it myself and I bought the 3 yr extended warranty and paid $1,034 and I had it in my office the second business day. I already have a paperless office. I use PaperPort. It is cheap, but it works well and I have everything in there since I started my practice in 2006. I would hate to switch to something else because I am so used to it, but I have heard DMS makes things more seamless, saves time, etc. Can anyone comment on this? Is it worth it if I am already paperless? Thanks.
