Beginning of Tatonka

Growing my business

I was a truck driver for a construction company and my girl friend was retired, and decided that she didn't like it. We decided to open the store for men & women's clothing at a reasonable price. We live in a small community and all we  have is a Wal mart. so we took the chance and did it. We decided on the name because my girlfriend loves buffalos and has a tatoo on her of a buffalo, so while getting the place ready to open, we watched on TV  "Dancing with wolves" with Kevin Costner, and tatonka was mentioned in the movie, which tatonka means Buffalo so we decided to call our place Tatonka Trading and believe it or not every night the movie would run on the channel when we got home. Even with the economy the way it was, people loosing their jobs, and just no work we opened the business. We did good the first year and then the place we have now, went on the market and my girlfriend worked with the owner for 1 year. He finally gave in and sold to us,and the funny thing is that we looked at this place before when we were trying to rent buildings to open the store. Now we have our hands full trying to get the whole place going, We are wanting to open the minature golf course, also the garage on the land can be turned into a drive up mini mart. We also have 2 cabins that are on the land and we rent them out. Our investment will eventually make us some money we just need to do it right. Our clothing store & ink refilling is doing great the move was a good choice. All our customers love the new place and love the idea of the golf course reopening.

Advice for others

If you have a goal and want to do something with your life, go for it. I have several goals and if I get one of them completed before I die,  I will be happy.
