Politicing for Educational Change & Reform
Launching my business
In 2001, I sought retirement on the south coastal shores of Georgia. It was here on the coast that I planned to by a condo or small cottage around or near the Wilmington, Typee or Skidaway Islands. Also, my plans called for me to take classes or hire a sailing coach to teach me how to sail a small cabin cruisher that had a sale launch. Having acquired the skills of sailing such a boat, I had planned to become knowledgable about as to the where about of the hot deep sea fishing spots for Marlins, mini sharks, and others. However, after living on the coast for a couple of years, I became alarmed and concerned about the reports about the lack of quality provided by Georgia's public schools to our school-age children in grade K-12. The low scores on national tests for reading, writing, math and science for students in grades 3-8; reports of 35-40% of our high school students dropping out of our high schools; and the vast majority of our students failing to college entrance exam scores below the national average, attracted my attention and re-directed my attention to education and away from the pursuit of a retirement that involved sailing boats and fishing off the coast of Georgia. After failing to hear any real calls for educational change and reform from the Democratic, Republican, and Libertarian candidates for State School Superintendent of Georgia, I decided in September of 2010 to run as a Write-In candidate for State School Superintendent. Since then, I have filed the necessary papers with the Secretary of State and the State Ethics Commission to run for State School Superintendent and seek donations to fund my campaign. With each passing day, I have become and more and more convinced that this is the true reason for me coming to live in the state of Georgia. And, I recognize that if I am to successfully win this election come Tuesday, November 2, 2010 that I need the vote or every Georgian who concerned about our students receiving quality, second to none, 21st Century public school education. Also, I need such voters to make a financial contribution or donation to my campaign. Please go to www.google.com to access my website at www.millerforstateschoolsuperintendent.org
