We train and board horses, specializing in hunters, jumpers and dressage. We also have an excellent riding academy for all levels of riders and include a very specialized program to provide therapeutic riding for people with a wide variety of disabilities. We are a NARHA registered center.

I have always had a passion for horses and love working with people.

In October of 2008, we found ourselves evacuating over 50 horses and battening down the hatches for Hurricane Ike. After the storm, we returned to find large holes in our barn and arena roofs and lots of trees and fences down. Power was out for several days, but we fired up generaters and got down to the business of cleaning up and patching the roof. Despite the mess, we all felt lucky that the damage was not worse since we were right at the edge of the eye when it passed. Repairs are still being made after 6 months.

I grew up in Maryland riding hunter/jumpers and began teaching others and training horses at 16 years old. My Bachelors degree is from the University of Maryland. Since then, I moved to Texas where my business of teaching and training has grown. A deep love for dressage also developed along the way which prompted me to broaden my equestrian education. The therapeutic riding program also blossomed as described in my story. I have spent my life in the pursuit of improving my teaching and training skills to pass on the joy of horses to others. I also write a monthly column for Horseback Magazine, act as president for the Gulf Coast Horse Show Association and am on the Board of Directors for the Greater Houston Horse Council.

Too many things! So much to live for, so little time! People and what makes them tick, horses, dressage, jumping, sports psychology, cats, dogs, animal psychology, music, meteorology, astronomy, cooking, travel, a good joke, a good meal, good friends.

Work and Family Balance, Like most businesses today, we are affected by the economy. Horses are considered to be a luxury item. Our challenge is to make the experience at Southern Breeze special enough that people will choose to keep their horse activities as a family priority even when financial cutbacks are necessary.

We have continued to evolve with our business plan to acclimate to the needs of our surrounding communities and customers while adjusting to our own circumstances and capabilities.
