Stay at home mom & CPA
Launching my business
I have always had a passion for accounting and bookkeeping. I chose to major in Accountancy my first semester at City College and never once strayed from that. After graduating from California State University, Fresno I went to work for a private company for just over a year before I decided I wanted to become a CPA and joined a public accounting firm. I enjoyed my job very much, but after having my second child in late 2010 I decided to become a stay at home mom. I missed having a job and after a few months of deliberation I have decided to start an accounting business from home.
I feel like I will get the best of both worlds, being able to be "mommy" for most of the day and being able to be a CPA after the kids go to bed or when my husband is home. I am excited for this new venture.
Advice for others
One thing that held me back is that I am my own worst critic. Taking the first steps of deciding to do something for yourself and put the time and money into starting a business can be hard. Once you take the first step - things will start to fall into place. Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back.
