I'm so gald you four friends are still friends - that you've found a way to all work together and bring your skills to the table.

CJHultz

Great story! You have a lot of energy and determination.

flashzero1977

I loved it! :-)

Great Video - our camping group stayed at your RV park last year for the first time and attend the Murphy's Wine Stomp. We were made to feel welcome and have reservations for this year as well. The park and grounds are well maintained and we loved the upstairs apartment, which our non-rving friends used. Angels Camp RV Park has now become a place we will be coming back to......best wishes from the Folsom Group.

"Friends through thick and thin, friends through the very end..." What a wonderful story!

Darn! we sold our motorhome too soon!!!! We'll forward this video to our many friends who are still 'RVing!"

lindabecerra

We love your park, everyone is so friendly, we feel safe with security as you watch over the park grounds, you make your rounds through the park checking that everyone is being respectful. You put much effort in keeping the grounds in tip top shape, the facilities are clean... warm showers to boot. The activites available make your park a great place to hang around and relax, swimming, horseshoe pits, ping pong, titerball, playground for the younger kids. This is a vacation to me...RELAX!!

Everyone should come vote for these wonderful people!

These owners prove the axiom - "when the going gets tough, the tough get going"! This is a wonderful RV destination resort with top notch managers who are very friendly and accommodating. My wife and I had a great time staying there, and there are so many interesting places to visit just a few miles from the resort. It's amazing to us how many improvements have been made to the park since we we're there two years ago! We'll definitely be returning for more fun!

Slinger17

Hardwork, character and integrity. Thanks for your efforts and example and the service you provide.

What a riot!

Having spent many hours in an RV, and campgrounds across the nation, we too, had considered this as a possible way of life!

Well...this proves that we made the right choice...they have really had to WORK to make this work! We didn't have the determination or the energy!

We know these folks personally so it makes this all the more amusing!

We can read between the lines for even more fun!

This is a place worth visitiing....and these are folks worth driving to meet!

Guaranteed!

Great story! Operating an RV park does sound simple on the surface; but, so do a lot of jobs. I'm afraid the park would never be good enough for me; and, I would work myself to death.

Good luck.

Oh, the wonderful challenges of owning and operating a business. Great video and a tremendous amount of work you have already done. Very nice park.

heavyd

Very informative and well done. I'm interested in going camping there as a result of watching the video.

Simba

It was touch and go there for a while. We have been staying there every year on the same weekend for 4 years. It was getting kind of creepy there for a while. Drug addicts were running it. Since Sterling and his wife took over, it's a 100% turn around. It feels like home away from home. Thank you for taking over the park.

pavmech

Great Video, Great place to stay always clean and secure. The staff is the friendliest around been going there for year, will be back soon

luvmaui

Good insight on the business.

luvmaui

Against incredible odds, and often "slap happy" from beating one's head against the wall, an adventure, turned dark comedy, concludes with an inspirational tale of pride, true grit and a relentless quest to attain ones dreams......Thanks guys your efforts will certainly pay you dividends.

irishwine

Great Video and Great People. Don't get much better than this.

luvrving

We are glad you stuck through the tough times, it shows in your park. We love it there and plan to come back many times. From what we have heard the park used to be very run down and not a very safe place to be. Now it is very clean, quiet and a lot of fun to be. Keep up the great work.

When we bought our motorhome a few months ago, Angel's Camp was the very first RV camp we selected to stay overnight at. Although it was storming and raining we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The staff was friendly and the giant emu(?) was a nice surprise for our puppy. Watching the video brought back fond memories. I enjoyed viewing how Angel's Camp started out and became the beautiful and fun place it is today.

Steve50

Nice story. Will be back soon

crzyone

What great video. It not only tells a great story, but you can see

what the campgrounds are like. And it's not boring !!

I happen to know the Jeffries personally and believe there are no finer, hardworking, and most deserving people to win this contest. Angels Camp RV is across from a beautiful reservoir. We love boating (I own Shipwreck Marine in Rancho Cordova, CA.) so after a day of being on the water, we love coming back to Angels Camp RV. The Jeffries and Engmans continue to manually labor to make it a beautiful park for all who visit and will benefit with an irrigation system by winning this contest.

daringdaringdebbie

WOW, with all of those trees, there is not a doubt that hand watering needs to be replaced by an IRRIGATION SYSTEM!

Got some questions ...

1) Is there an underlining meaning on your title?

2) Are you able to name which of you are "the good", who is "the bad", and are all of you "the tough"?

LOL

Best Wishes

If anyone can resolve a computer glitch, it's Ken Jeffries. LaRayne has done a great job of "managing" Ken for the 33 years I've known them! I wish you all the luck in the world!

kempestuous5869

I loved this story and this video. It makes me want to go there for a visit!

murlin

Great job! I keep waiting to see John Wayne come round the bend every time I heard the owners voice. We have been coming here for a few years now and feel like we discovered an unknown treasure. Glad the business is thriving.

The owners are great people; helpful, friendly and funny. The campground is always clean, pool is great. Internet access is wonderful. Fantastic location, you can't beat this place.

vincent04

Very inspiring!

bondon

This is the winner!!

lanny8401

Great video. You guy's put a lot of effort into the Park and it shows.Congrats!

LexieLou

What a great team effort -- and how well the hard work is documented. You can feel their frustration and determination! Winning video and story.

4x2j5

The video was great and you deserve to win. The four of you have spent so much time and energy into making this RV Park a wonderful place to stay. We hope to visit the park again very soon. Best of luck in your future development of more sites to accommodate more people.

Finalist story from RVer:

The Good, the Bad and the Tough

Over a glass of wine and Pinochle cards, the prospect of purchasing an RV Park and Campground together thrilled us. True, none of us, long-time friends and now grandparents, had any experience with RV’s or running an RV park, but we assumed it couldn’t be that difficult. After all, the resident manager as well as a middle-aged woman who worked part time in the office and a grounds keeper who had been at the campground almost since day one would all remain to teach us the business. Sounded simple.

So when the purchase came to fruition, our friends bought a beautiful new fifth wheel and relocated to the park. Looking beyond the clean up and renovation the park desperately needed, we shared the exciting vision of restoring this picturesque California campground to a welcoming destination resort for families and groups. However, it didn’t take long for those dreams and expectations to feel more like a nightmare.

We discovered the previous managers didn’t ‘do’ computers so we not only inherited an outdated webpage but over 1,200 unanswered email inquiries for reservations. Within a week of our acquisition, the close supervision of on-site owners proved problematic with the managers. They quit. That left us with the part-time employee to teach us the ropes. Thankfully we were fast learners; sadly, just a few months later this employee died of a heart attack at the campground. And the grounds keeper who knew the campground and how to do everything? He had to leave due to health problems. Suddenly we were faced with a campground we knew little about running, numerous less-than-desirable campground ‘residents’ we had to clear out of the park (adversely affecting our revenue but positively impressing the local community) and no grounds keeper to help with the landscaping, pool or on-site sewer plant. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons!

The four of us rolled up our sleeves, dug in and tackled the seemingly insurmountable. We mustered our individual talents and together formed an awesome team. Today, two and a half years later, we have a wonderful family campground, reservations well into the future, a great reputation and are hoping to expand the park this year. Tough times never last, but tough people do.

Advice for others:

We believe to survive in business, you have to go one step further than the proverbial "tying a knot in the end of the rope and hanging on".  We believe, and know from experience, that the knot has to be big enough and strong enough for everyone to hang onto and swing so high you never lose sight of the hopes and dreams you had for that business in the beginning.
