If they do, the clothing is often frumpy and unappealing. Well never fear, baby! Fat Fancy is here!<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>A person who embodies the Fat Fancy aesthetic knows how to take a garment some might consider &ldquo;frumpy&rdquo; and make it unique and stylish. Yes, world, fat people can be fabulously-fashion-forward.&nbsp; Our company is here to prove it and to make shopping and dressing more fun, convenient and affordable!<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Fat Fancy is a plus size clothing boutique based out of Portland, Oregon. We feature vintage and modern, men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s styles in sizes 12 and up, up, up! Our sizes are big, but our prices are low. Our first sale was in December of 2007.&nbsp; I turned my studio apartment into a clothing boutique, and promoted primarily via internet. People traveled as much as 300 miles, just to attend the sale!<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>From there, the shop was moved to a friend&rsquo;s basement. We set up a wonderland of fabric and lights to create our own underground clothing boutique.&nbsp; Shortly after this, I met my business partner.&nbsp; We joined forces and hold monthly clothing sales to raise money for a permanent storefront.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Aside from stylish clothing and accessories, Fat Fancy offers a size and body positive environment that to aims makes people feel safe and inspired.&nbsp; Our sales are exciting social events that have a party vibe. We play soul music and offer refreshments. It&rsquo;s not unusual for dancing to occur in the aisles. One of our goals is to encourage people to feel good about themselves and to love their bodies. For people of size, the experience of shopping for clothes can be painful and traumatic. Relief from the pain of shopping has moved some of our customers to well up with emotion.&nbsp; <br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Our speakeasy boutique has been featured in nationally circulated Curve and Bust Magazines, several blogs, and local media.&nbsp; Customers come to our monthly sales from far and wide. We are proud to have the support from many amazing community members as well as from underground fat fashion icons, Beth Ditto of the Gossip and Leslie Hall of Leslie and the LYs.&nbsp; <br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Fat Fancy is a fresh and modern community-based business with potential to expand and reach countless people with our message of body love and positivity.
