I started Tees For Change in Spring 2007 when I was pregnant with my first child. My husband and I desired to experience a home birth for our son, but we were often bombarded with negative and fearful responses from both friends and strangers. My response was one that would ultimately shape and guide my business. I created my first t-shirt with the words “Be Courageous” printed across the front (that I wore it throughout my pregnancy). In Spring 2007 Tees For Change was born out of my ongoing commitment to living an eco-friendly lifestyle with a deep belief in positive thinking.

In the short two years that Tees For Change has been in business, I've learned a lot, made many connections, attended trade shows, created new products and had lots of fun along the way (along with a lot of hard work and dedication). The shirts are now in almost 200 retailers across the US and internationally, including Whole Foods, Canyon Ranch, Omega Institute, Corepower Yoga, Kripalu Center, Exhale Spa and many more. And they've been featured in many publications and media outlets, including Redbook, ET Online, InTouch Magazine, Ideal Bite, iVillage, SheFinds, MSNBC, NBC's The 10! Show and many blogs.
Through our parnterships with Global ReLeaf and Trees for the future, we've planted nearly 10,000 trees in places such as South America and Africa. And we've been able to donate tees for many non-profits' fund raising events, including Global Mala, Human Rights Tour, Avon Breast Cancer Walk and many more!
If you feel strongly about starting a business and find something you're passionate about, do it! I didn't know anything about retail or wholesale sales or the apparel industry when I first started. I have a background in marketing, so I used what I learned from previous jobs to market my company and grow it.
