<detail>
There's this perception that becoming an entrepreneur would mean lots of money, fast cars, and beautiful women.

During our time at UCSD we started ScienceAide, an educational products company and last we checked, we still need funding, the cars on the driveway are the same ones we’ve been driving since college, and we’re pretty sure we don’t have the likes of Megan Fox hanging out with us.

But on a more serious note, there’s actually an entrepreneurial misconception that to be successful, things must fall perfectly into place from the beginning.

ScienceAide began with an idea for the first ever organic chemistry stencil, a small plastic stencil with organic chemistry shapes cut out in it. Initially, it took forever just to find the right type of plastic and print. We spent countless hours scrubbing the residue left on the stencils from the laser machine and even patented the stencil. As former organic chemistry students, we were sure it was going to be a huge hit and we'd sell millions.

We confidently walked into our former instructors’ organic chemistry class at UCSD. We told 350 students that we’d be outside their class selling these amazing stencils, expecting them to sell like hotcakes. After class, all the students passed us by. We only sold one stencil and were devastated.

Little did we know that this event was just the beginning of an exciting venture. Our team became closer than ever. We went back to the drawing boards, realizing we couldn’t make a company with just one product. It dawned on us that at the core, we were a business focused on helping students. We went to work by spending time with students to build relationships and create solutions to meet their needs.

Today we have a lineup of 14 different products including course specific study guides, the first ever reusable scratch paper, lab supplies, and more in development. Our products are sold in bookstores throughout CA, landed a deal with Princeton Review, and we’re selling our products online to students all over the US. We’ve come a long way and know as a team, we have a great opportunity to make a difference in students’ lives.

We didn't have the best idea from the beginning, nor did we have funding. But we did have a stellar team that was willing to learn from each other, and motivation to keep pushing forward. To us, entrepreneurship is about the team, the people we serve, and lessons that come along with the journey.

Best,

The ScienceAide Team

Kevin, Jaysond, & Jeff
</detail>
